Germany native Evelyn Troester is an internationally accomplished singer, musical director and choral conductor. As an enthusiastic voice and piano teacher, she has worked with children and adults for over a decade, currently teaching as a TA at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City, where she also pursues a doctorate in music education. Evelyn received her Masters degree in performance (piano, guitar, choral conducting, orchestra conducting and jazz voice) and music education (pedagogy and psychology) at the famous University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich. The style-versatile musician has performed and studied with renowned artists such as James Levine, Guiseppe Sinopoli, Norman Simmons, Candace Goetz and Rhiannon, and released her first CD “Mind“ (Fluxx Records) featuring a mix of jazz and popular music styles in February 2006. Another musical passion of hers is the combination of singing and playing the organ. Evelyn studied organ with Andrew Henderson and Jim Lake, and performs today as a substitute kantor/organist in Brooklyn, NY.
In 2010 she founded the vocal ensemble GHOSTLIGHT (www.ghostlightchorus.com) in which her various talents as conductor, vocal coach, pianist, organizer and language afficionado culminate. In addition to her regular performance schedule with GHOSTLIGHT, Evelyn provides choral and improvisation workshops for High Schools, offers teacher training and is scholarly interested in creativity development and leadership.
Recently, she was invited to speak on the topic of creativity at The ECONOMIST Human Potential Conference in New York City.
